What Is Hypertension?

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, means that the force of your blood against your artery walls is consistently too high. Over time, this can cause serious health problems.

Why Is It Dangerous?

If left untreated, hypertension can lead to:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Kidney damage
  • Vision loss

It's often called a "silent killer" because it usually has no symptoms-but the damage it causes can be life-threatening.
